Auction Haus
For retailers

Sell surplus stock on consignment.

Auction Haus picks up surplus, returned, and discontinued stock from your store and sells it at online auction. You keep the larger share of every sale, and our share comes out of the sale rather than up front.

Not a retailer? There is a page for auction houses and liquidators and one for private sellers.

What we take

The stock that sells well at auction

The consignor decides what goes in the pile. These are the categories that move.

Opened-box returns

Stock that came back through the door opened, whether or not it was used.

Delivery-damaged stock

Items that arrived dented, scratched, or short a part.

Discontinued lines

Product the supplier has stopped making, or a line the store has stopped carrying.

Seasonal leftovers

Stock that ran past its season and is waiting on the next one.

Aged stock

Items that have been on the shelf a long time and stopped moving.

Packaging changes

Stock in the old box after a supplier reworked the packaging or the branding.

Returns with no credit

Items the supplier will not take back, or where the credit is worth less than the paperwork.

Trade and building goods

Hardware, building supply, flooring, furniture, appliance, and farm supply stock.

Food
Food past its best-before date sells, so it goes in the pile like anything else. Send the lot and we sort out what goes in the auction.
Sorting it
Up to you. Pick through the stock first and hand over only what you choose, or hand over a crate, bin, or pallet of everything and we will sort through it.
How it works

From your back room to a monthly cheque

  1. 01

    You set it aside

Put the stock somewhere out of the way as it comes in. You decide what goes in the pile.

  2. 02

    We pick it up

Pickup runs on a weekly schedule, from your store. Hand over a crate of everything if that is easier, and we will sort through it at our end.

  3. 03

    We photograph and list it

Every item is photographed and written up with its condition. Price stickers and store labels come off before anything goes online.

  4. 04

    We handle the bidders

Bidding, questions, payment, and pickup are all on our side. Nothing comes back to your counter.

  5. 05

    You get a cheque

A cheque each month, with a statement listing every item and what it sold for.

The arrangement

The terms, in full

Your share
You keep the larger share of every sale. We go through the exact split when we come and look at the stock.
Up front
Our share comes out of the sale, so the stock can leave your store with nothing owing.
Anonymity
Listings are anonymous by default. Price stickers and store labels come off before anything goes online, so the stock is never tied back to the store it came from. You can ask to have your store named on listings if you want the local exposure.
Sorting
Optional on your side. Hand over a crate, bin, or pallet of everything and we will sort through it.
Unsellable stock
Some of what comes over will not be worth listing. We dispose of it and pass the disposal fee on to you. That is what lets you send everything over as it is and leave the sorting to us.
Pickup
Weekly, from your store.
Statements
A cheque every month, with a line for each item and what it sold for.
Sales
Everything sells as-is. Every listing says so, and bidders agree to it before they bid.
The term
Month to month. Ending it takes 30 days notice so auctions already running can close out, and anything unsold comes back to you.
Answers

What retailers ask first

Will this undercut my store?

These are items already written off. Auction buyers are hunting deals on whatever is listed that week, wherever it came from.

What about warranty?

Everything sells as-is, and bidders agree to that before they place a bid.

What about supplier returns?

Keep sending back whatever qualifies for credit. Auction Haus takes what is left over, or what is not worth the paperwork.

We use this to get in touch about consigning stock. Your store stays off the listings unless you ask us to name it.
